Peter and Jan Delaney

Residents

Peter and Jan Delaney have been married for an impressive 48 years and have two children and two grandchildren. They moved into Waverley Country Club in 2016 after waiting some time for a home to become available, as they were keen to join numerous friends that were already living in the village.

Peter retired 2 years ago after 45 years working in executive roles in the general insurance industry and afterwards in a role at Bowls Victoria as their State Operations Manager, but still leads a busy life with the multiple roles he plays across various organisations and clubs. He is the Board Chairman of the nearby Mulgrave Country Club as well as a Fire Marshall in the village. Jan is not quite ready to retire just yet and is the Marketing & Customer Service Manager for McDonalds looking after 33 company owned stores in Metro Melbourne. On top of their formal commitments Peter and Jan love leading an active lifestyle, with a daily 3km walk around the village and walking tracks, weekly Tuesday and Friday drinks with neighbours (on Zoom during lockdown!), and the choice of so many different activities and clubs to participate in, including water aerobics in the heated pool, music and singing groups, movie and theatre evenings, and a great bar and coffee lounge for social get togethers.

“I love the resort-style living, great villa and security that Waverley Country Club offers,” says Peter. “The gated community and well-lit roads give a high level of security and wellbeing.” Peter and Jan have also grown fond of the village team at Waverley Country Club. “They are very customer focused staff here - nothing is too much trouble.” The overall community feel is a highlight of the village and Peter and Jan have enjoyed meeting people who share the same lifestyle aspirations as they do.
