Meet the Residents: Western Australia

Photographed: Gunter Lorenz, Parkland Villas Woodlands

Our retirement villages are home to residents who have endless stories to tell.

Take a peek into the colourful lives of three of our Western Australia residents.

Gunter Lorenz grew up in Austria, where his interest and talent for art emerged from a young age. During kindergarten, he loved to experiment with paints, and later on he would design band t-shirts in primary school. After a 29-year career accumulating international prizes and hosting exhibits across Europe, Gunter made the move to Australia.

“I was lucky enough to meet my partner at Parkland Villas Woodlands,” Gunter says. “I never imagined falling in love with my neighbour - just like the movies!”

Marise Pavich moved into Parkland Villas Mandurah to use as her base when not touring the countryside with friends. A ‘lock-and-leave’ adventurer, she has always had a passion for travel. “When I moved into the village, I made sure to bring a measuring tape - I needed to make sure my campervan would fit under the carport!” Marise says.

Jeannie Baker, a professional dance teacher, lives and breathes dance, but has a special spot in her heart for tap dance. She runs the Thursday ‘Stretch and Exercise’ class at Parkland Villas Ellenbrook, which is a popular village activity injected with energy and fun. “The classes bring the community together with some laughs and a good sweat,” Jeannie says. “I get as much out of running the classes as they do, and I love seeing the committed residents returning each week.”

We will continue to share fascinating glimpses into the lives of others to inspire yours, so keep an eye out for more.
