Meet the residents: Victoria
One thing that’s great about our Retirement Villages is the diverse group of residents that live in each of our communities.
From sports stars to international models, our residents have lived long and exciting lives, boasting fun stories they love to share. Read below to get to know some of our wonderful Victorian residents and learn more about their past.
John Beckwith from Lexington Gardens. John used to play in AFL’s Melbourne team back in the day, and even went on to coach the team too. Playing five premierships across his career, John was a star player for the Demons. Find out more about John here.
Denise Daynes from Menzies Malvern. Denise was on the Australian Softball Team for 14 years where she attended 3 world championships, and has made her way into the Australian Softball Hall of Fame. Denise was awarded an Australian Sports Medal in 2000.
Helen Luxton from Martha’s Point. Helen is a member of the "Seawolves" club, where a group of women jump in the bay at Mt Martha every morning at 8am, rain or shine. The activity encourages social connectedness between the women, and is also a mindful activity for Helen. Read more about Helen and the Seawolves here.
Marcia Hill from Menzies Malvern. Martha was a jet-setting model back in her day. To this day, Martha loves any occasion to dress up, including the Spring Racing Carnival and the Melbourne Cup.
Ron Newman from Fiddlers Green. Back in the day, Ron was part of the police force. In fact, Ron was Victoria's first Police helicopter pilot, which makes him pretty special.
