Margaret Priestley resident at Goodwin Close

Meet resident Margaret Priestly

Margaret has been a resident at Goodwin Close since January 2018 after a health scare overseas saw her spend 3 months in hospital in a foreign country. Upon returning she found it challenging to keep up with household duties which led her to make what she considers to be the best decision she has ever made and moved into Goodwin Close.

A couple of years on Margaret is really happy with her decision, as she is now not only closer to her daughter and son who live in the local area, but is also really grateful for all the care and support she receives at the village – which has been even more important throughout a global pandemic. “I really feel for people who have had to go through these uncertain times living on their own and am so grateful that I’m in a village surrounded by staff and residents who genuinely care about me”, Margaret says.

Margaret loves the diverse and friendly community at Goodwin Close and appreciates the fact that she always has somebody to talk to in the village. She loves that she can learn something new every day with the range of activities available and most importantly feels safe and secure. She enjoys the balance of being able to enjoy her own quiet time alone while always having the opportunity to talk to friends and have something engaging to do if she wants to.

As a serviced apartment resident, Margaret has her meals, cleaning, and heavy laundry taken care of so that she has more time to focus on the things she loves, such as learning new skills which she believes is important in life. In fact, Margaret has recently learnt and mastered the art of patchwork (pictured above). She’s spent the last few months preparing patchwork for her 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, as well as a 5th great-grandchild who will be making their way into the world very soon.
