Hear some of our residents talk about their experience of moving into a Retirement Village – and the positive impact it’s had on their health and wellbeing.


According to a 2010 review of research, the effect of social ties on your life span is twice as strong as that of exercising, and equivalent to that of quitting smoking. Researchers have found that the strength of people’s social relationships, including the number of friends in their social circle and their involvement in the community, were all linked to better health and longer lives.


When asked what they love about village life, one of the most common answers from our residents is the overwhelmingly positive sense of belonging. The experience of our residents in this video from Little Bay in NSW and Meadowvale in Victoria certainly supports this. From starting a fresh after the death of a much-loved husband, to escaping the maintenance of a large family home, these stories have one thing in common – that living in a community that’s well set up for a social, active lifestyle helps to diminish feelings of loneliness and isolation.

So, while downsizing and moving to a new house is not always easy, there’s a silver lining once you’ve moved and the boxes have been unpacked. You can start looking forward to everything the move represents. Fun and friendship. Safety and security. Absolute independence and support when you need it.
