Escape For A Winter Getaway

There’s no better time to escape for a much-needed getaway. The wide open road and the beautiful mountains are calling.

The chill of winter is upon us and it’s the time of year when the plummeting temperatures have us yearning for a holiday. Whilst you may not be able to escape the cold this season, there’s nothing like the thrill of a getaway to keep the edge off!

In retirement, there are more free moments to pursue things in life you are truly passionate about, like travelling. Where holidays were once limited to 2-3 weeks per year, you now have 52 weeks of the year to choose from when it comes to visiting or revisiting beautiful places. So, the question you really need to ask yourself is: where to this time?

This winter, why not get off the beaten track and explore the many quaint destinations in our own backyard? Whether you prefer a mountain escape, a leisurely road trip or an outback adventure, Australia is home to many beautiful and exquisite locations that are just waiting to be explored.

There are many positives to exploring the mountains and countryside in Australia. Stunning weather, fewer crowds and more bang for your buck are just a few reasons to pack up and set off on the adventure of a lifetime this winter.

The Blue Mountains are a truly idyllic destination, particularly in winter. The crisp, clear air and the roaring log fires at night make for the perfect cosy getaway. Immerse yourself in local activities and travel on the vintage style Trolley Tours, or take a visit to the botanic gardens. Stay in one of the many cabins available in the area and if you’re lucky, you might even get to experience some snow!

If a mountain escape isn’t quite your thing, a caravan adventure might be more up your alley. There’s something about the joy of the wide, open road that is both comforting and adventurous. Plus, as much as you may enjoy the company of your significant other, a caravan adventure is the perfect way to meet new friends and create new memories with people who share common interests.

Whilst there are many beautiful scenic drives in Australia, there are a few standouts such as The Great Ocean Road in Victoria or Cairns to Cape York in North Queensland. However, if you’re up for something a little more adventurous, The Big Lap is a circumnavigation of our great country and follows approximately 15,000km that skirts the coastline linking seven of the countries capital cities.

The best part about a winter escape is that most destinations flourish during the cooler months. The days might be cooler, but you really can’t put a price on crisp air, stunning sunsets and cosy nights rugged up by the fireplace. So, what are you waiting for? It’s time to hit the road.
